Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery

From I-45, go west on FM 519 and turn left (south) onto Memorial Street just after Carbide Park and the bayou. Memorial is the second cemetery on this short road. This is a huge and old cemetery, with over 22,000 burials.
It was one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen as a teenager in Hitchcock and, on a hot summer day, I loved to walk through those air-cooling trees looking at the monuments (and the trees). Many of those old moss-covered trees have been destroyed by hurricanes but it's still a beautiful and well-kept cemetery. There are three drives into the cemetery and the coordinates are for the main gate at the bend in Memorial Street, which is usually open.
There are burials listed at FindaGrave with a majority of stones photographed and some more photos at BillionGraves (click the browse button).
