La Marque Cemetery

From I-45, go east on Main Street (FM 519) to Highway 3, cross the tracks and turn left (northwest) onto Oak Street. The cemetery is on the right in about the 6th block from Main. The entrance is just after the church.
After the 1900 Storm, locals needed a place to bury their dead and this site was given to them because the Paul's Union Church building had been destroyed. Eventually, there were two cemeteries here, Old and New, with the New cemetery being initiated in 1920 with the purchase of 2 1/2 acres. They were finally consolidated in 1946 and were conveyed to the City of La Marque in 1956.
