Where we are
Galveston is a relatively small county on the southwest side of Galveston Bay, southeast of Houston and includes the
barrier island of Galveston as well as the Bolivar Peninsula on the southeast side of the bay and several smaller
islands including North Deer, South Deer, Pelican and Goat the only ones with official names (Middle Deer Island has
disappeared and Tiki was actually a peninsula until they cut a channel through it). Most of the islands are uninhabited
and prone to monthly tidal flooding. We are bordered on the west by
Brazoria
County and on the north by
Harris.
Our east and south sides are mostly bordered by water but
Chambers
County borders our Bolivar side. We are a thriving community of sailors, fishermen, farmers, ranchers, industrial
workers, cowboys and beach bums with a lot of professional folks to keep us all content.
